As a modern American who grew up in a single family home far away from my grandparents, I only had a vague sense of my family's history.
Learning the details of these folks lives really helped me understand how much wisdom we have forgotten in the passage of time. More specifically, the traditions and values that were passed down to me make more sense now that huge gaps of information have been filled in.
Far from dusty mouldy oldies, I found this content facsinating. What really stands out is how social strife caused by class divisions and religious differences were set aside and how the community and leadership worked together for mutual benefit. They led with integrity - with honesty and with strong moral principles -- consistently doing what was right and true, even when it was difficult. And lastly, with danger, sickness and death constant companions they clung to their humanity, compassion and gratitude.
I have compiled and packaged this information in the hope that you too can benefit from it. If you, like me, feel disconnected from your family roots, I hope this series instills a sense of strength and pride in our shared heritage. I hope that we too can become stewards of this knowledge and pass it to future generations. Not just for our own family's survivial, but for the survival of our nation.
